Over in the Griffith section there is a topic on the heater valve being out of adjustment. I have the same problem on my Chim 450. (yeah.. it's hot when I select it to cold)

I figured I would screw around with it and see if I could get it sorted so that the valve is actually closed when selected to cold. However, I have now realized that the only way to do this is to pull the valve and do it outside the car.

It doesn't look like rocket science. Other than pulling out the floor carpet to avoid water stain.... has anyone else done this?

I have done this and had an input to the griff thread. Do you have a problem? From cold turn the temp to cold, start the engine and with the fan on see if the air from the vents gets warm. If it does by the time the guage reaches 80 ish, then as you suggest you have the problem. If it doesnt but does get warm after a long period, then its a heat exchange problem. You can adjust the valve by hand, but you have to do it before the heat exchange problem will confuse things.
