Looks really great now its polished. I test drove that one too and was very tempted - did the guy selling it take you to the airfield? Brilliant fun, and the owner was a top bloke.
I think you were unlucky with the clutch - seemed absolutely fine to me. Dulfords were very helpful when I spoke to them about the car - they gave it a clean bill of health.

Yeah he was a good bloke, the price was too good to leave it, even with a £500 clutch and input shaft bill!!!I think you were unlucky with the clutch - seemed absolutely fine to me. Dulfords were very helpful when I spoke to them about the car - they gave it a clean bill of health.

Drivers side mirror needed repairing, dash lights weren't working, fan needs attention and the behind the dash needed a bit of repair. All done now and added the finishing touches with the switch covers, dash vent surrounds etc, the engine is superb, she is as tight as a drum and yep the blast at the airstrip was the clincher!!!
I love it!

Looking stunning! My favourite colour too rather unsurprisingly! hope she gives you as many happy miles as mine has given me.
You know what, I wasn't too sure about the colour at first. The photos to advertise it made it look brown and I bought it in the wet!!!!Bit of spit, polish and sunshine and hey presto!!!
Yeah I like it now!

Dave,
Apologies for dragging up an old thread...just spotted that you have my old motor! I owned K10RUS for 9 years between 97 and 06 and can honestly say she was in better shape when I sold her than she was when I picked her up.
Back in 97 this was the cheapest Griff I'd ever seen - I think I paid £19K and, although in need of some TLC, I could see the potential and couldn't resist once I heard that V8 fire up...I was in luv
Over the years I replaced the exhaust system, brakes, various suspension components, carpets, had the roof re-covered, added the Leven bits etc etc. In the end it was almost too nice to drive if you know what I mean, it became a bit of a garage queen and I was increasingly nervous about stories of similarly aged motors needing major chassis attention. I never drove if it was wet so that only left about 30 days a year to enjoy it!
I see you've had a few teething problems and I can shed some light on your constantly on heater issue...unless someone has added one since I sold it, you haven't got a heater control valve Funds were tight at the time and when the valve started both sticking and leaking I thought I would just remove it until summer came around again...Sorry! I actually found that so little air came through the ventilation system anyway (not helped by the defective fan which I never managed to resolve) that I didn't have a problem running it like this, even in summer as the roof was usually off anyway.
Good to see that K10RUS is still going strong and looking good Hope you enjoy her as much as I did.
Steve
PS - Your car was pictured in a couple of books that I included in the sale...were these passed on to you? I thought it was a nice bit of history to go with the car.

Thanks for the info much appreciated
Unfortunately I had no books given to me other than the usual service history/ Steve Heath etc, shame.
She is no longer K10 RUS but is now K77 GRF, I was fed up of people calling me Russel - not that there is anything wrong with being called Russel but it aint my name

I may well be cruising through Caerleon this evening if the weather holds out
Just noticed your post Dave, most evenings I'd have spotted you if you were burbling through the village but wasn't around tonight. I'm usually found having a pint in one of the fine drinking holes between The Hanbury and The Priory most evenings between 6 and 7 but didn't make it tonight
Eta - although I did hear a V8 powered something on the road between Caerleon and The St Julians pub when I was walking the dog along the river at about 6.45pm. Penelope ?
