TVR and PW are really nice people aren't they
Discussion
There was a thread recently about TVR's offer to build someone a new Griffith, since his own one had been torched, even though they've stopped making them.
I've found out that this wasn't the first time.
Apparently in 1990 a lady wrote off her Tasmin fixed head. She went to the dealer to get a new one to be told that they weren't being made any more. She asked very nicely, since she had been so keen on her Tasmin.
So they built her one, with a 4 litre engine.
That car is now for sale, advertised in the TVRCC - the guy selling it told me all this.
What nice people they are Imagine Ford being asked this ...
Incidentally - what happened with the Griffith offer?
John.

Well of course they don't do it for free, and they ought to make something of the publicity.
But the vast majority of car makers would say, piss off and buy a secondhand one if you're that keen, or buy one of our current range, but we're not going to be arsed to do something difficult just because you got careless/unlucky ...

Jaguar - A 4.0 V8 E-type
Ferrari - 246 Dino semi auto gearbox
Ford - Mk 2 Escort RWD zetec
Hmmmmmmmm i like the sound of the first one, i wouldnt wanna auto ferrari so scrub that one, as for the last one well you could make one yourself for not too much cash.
How about a Lamborghini Muira SVJ with the newest spec engine, decent handling an high speed stability.
or
Ferrari Daytona with less weight and more power
or
Lancia Stratos with 360 modena engine and some decent air con
