I am probably quite late finding out about this, but I hear that the T6.1 replacement is going to be Ford Transit with VW front styling, built at a Ford factory in Turkey.

I then read that the present VW Multivan is an entirely different model and that will continue to be built by VW.

All most confusing, because the current VW Transporter and VW Multivan look externally, to be the same basic vehicles.

The Multivan has more windows, but the basic vehicles look the same.

After so many decades of the VW Transporter variants being held in such high esteem, it seems strange that there is now a joint venture with Ford.
Perhaps VW Tx Camper owners, would not even consider wanting a Ford Transit Camper.

I see.

Expect we all remember the builders comment.
"Full size sheets of plasterboard will fit flat on the floor of a Ford Transit."

Presumably not possible with existing VW Transporters.
