Turbo housings
Discussion
Hi,
I've got a couple of A4/A6 1.8 (and Passat 1.8) turbos, and am wondering about the exhaust housings. Both turbos are the same Audi part number (058 145 703 J) but the exhaust housings are 5303 101 9071 D5 A ('00) and 5303 101 9071 D5S B ('99). FWIW, the compressor number is 5304 101 50 95B. Do any of you VAG enthusiasts know if there is a flow difference between these two components?
I notice that the exhaust housing appears to be cracked at the corner of the shroud between the wastegate and the turbine exit, on the '00 unit. Is this a common problem? Is it fixable?
Thanks,
Richard.
