Servicing Quotes - Golf TDI 130
Discussion
Apparently my last service was a major one, came in at around £280-300 with the brake fluid changed if my memory serves me. I guess thats quite expencive, but I hadden't owned a diesel before and someone did tell me they cost more to service...
Prices will vary from dealer to dealer by upto £40 in my expierience. So worth making a couple of calls. I use Whites in Camberley, have given up searching for a dealer that nobody has had a bad expierence with. Whites seem ok, have always done everything I asked!
I have heard someone talking about this variable servicing? Is that like my old 3 series when it works on a mileage scale, dependant on how the car is driven etc? Would be interested to know more about this if anyone can shed any light?

Ta. Seems like a lotta dosh to me, but not a lot of option while it's still under warranty.
VW variable servicing works by monitoring the oil condition (some gizmo in the sump) and telling you when it thinks it needs a change - they do a full inspection before swapping it over then everything else will go for up to 2 years or 30K miles. I do almost exclusively long trips, mostly m-ways so I hope I'll get somewhere near max before I have to go back again.
Downside is it needs a special (expensive!) oil to work, but should be cheaper and less hassle in the long run. Time will tell I spose.

Well, I got a few pence change from £280 for the work as above, including collection from my work by a polite and knowledgeable chap. Returned same day, on-time, washed and polished and they even did me duplicate receipts for earlier services that the P.O. had lost. Still a lotta dosh for an oil change, but can't fault the service.
