Audi S4 Cabriolet
Discussion
looking around the local audi garage at the weekend, and noticed they had a new S4 cabriolet....didnt even know that they were going to produce on of these..
does sound appealing, on paper at least, 2.7 twin turbo, 300+ bhp, four seats and no roof, and four wheel drive....should give the M3 a run for its money..and much bett erlooking IMHO...
what do you chaps(esses) think?

Problem is, it will have wrotten lifeless steering, over servo'd brakes and a fidgety ride.
Current Audi's frustrate the heck out of me. They have nice engines, nice interiors, and I like the styling but they are so underwhelming to drive.
I have been lucky enough to drive an RS6. Awesome car, awesome engine, amazingly practical. Seems mad that something so fast can carry so much. But you know what ? I would'nt buy one because it just was not any fun. Granted, the warp factor 8 acceleration is mental in between speed cameras.... but turning the steering wheel was like turning the wheel on a playstation game.
Until Audi fire the entire steering and chassis department ( a TT is just as bad) and learn that a bit of feedback from the steering wheel is a good thing and not to taken away , I will still give Audi's a wide berth.
A shame, cos every time I see a new A4 cab I think , mmm nice looking car. But I know I'd soon get bored with it.
IMO of course...

I will let you know how they fare. Have decided to chop a Cerbera for an S4 Cab, perhaps I'm mad but I need the reliability and can't be doing with the tvr thing, still damn hard though! Cerbera has to be one of the best looking vehicles on the market, faboulous but fragile. S4 due around may 17th.
have taken delivery, 300 miles so far and can't fault it. No pops and no bangs but it is creamy smooth and has great promise. have to take it easy for the first 1k so really won't have the full measure for a few more days. build quality appears great and i'm sure that it will tick most of the boxes. better half loves it and says that she will drive it.

Alpaca Beige sounds a bit hearing aid (which I mention if I want to piss her off) but is a shade of silver. It's a damn good car and I enjoy driving it, on those occasions when she is either sick or inebriated.
dolphin grey with red leather and red hood. the combination really works, imho. last quatro i had was the original turbo, really looking forward to getting the miles on and getting re-aquainted. hope the sun is out this weekend!
I got my S4 cabriolet on September 1st. It's Ebony black with black hood and 'silver' silk nappa leather with black piping. The shiney aluminium door mirrors and windscreen surround look a bit bling, especially with the 9 spoke 18" wheels I chose. But I think it looks stunning. It has attracted some unwanted attention; a few boyracers wanting to 'ave a go! & sadly some mindless idiot who ran a key all down it from wing to wing.
I've done 7k already now and it just gets better and better. The Tiptronic has two settings, on the sport mode, the steering stiffens up but still gives plenty of feel. The car really feels sure footed at speed being a Quattro, but it's a bit thirsty when driven hard, which is a good incentive to ease off a bit. I would thoroughly recommend it. I love it!
