How much would you expect to pay for an E reg Golf (88?). And how many miles would they do, and for the price how much would they have done?

If its really really nice assumung its a 1.3/1.6 around £500 quid if its dog nasty then £100, if its been properly maintained throughout its life then it'll rumble onto 200,000miles without too much hassle

I previous car was a golf. H reg, 107k, 3 door, 1.3, excelent condition.

I paid £700 for it, and it would've gone on forever.

Mk2 GTi's will go for anything between 500 and 2,000 depending on condition... for a decent one slightly over a grand maybe...
(Don't know whether you where asking abour GTi's, drivers, 1.3's or what so thought this might be helpful

I don't really know what I'm asking for.

Just a golf. Possibly a GTi, but just one that will go fine and also be quite interesting and not too much cash, preferably quite reliable too.

We paid £850 for a Mk1 Golf GTi (1.8) about 2 years ago, which needed about £300 spent on it (new brakes, few bit of interior trim & some general TLC). It's now up to 234,000 miles & still going strong !

Mk1's are actually more expensive than Mk2's now though, but the engine in ours is the same as in the Mk2's made up to 1987.....
