My 1992 original golf with only 32k on the clock is getting tempremental. The tachometer has been intermittent and has now stopped working altogether.
I,ve removed the complete unit from the car and the vacuum is good and as far as i can tell the connections are ok.
Spoke to main dealer and obvious answer was buy a new one at £250 plus.I believe that this is a problem on this mark.
Any ideas, thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
John

Can't help you immediately, though I'm v. impressed you've a mk2 with only 32K on it! (Mines got 137!)...

Try www.clubgti.com... v. helpful for technical questions if a search doesn't reveal its already been asked..

Never had a problem with teh rev counter. The vacuum problem, I thought related to the mpg part of the mfi display?

A breakers shoud be able to supply a decent dash for a lot less £ than £250 anyway.

My friend just picked up a new Mk4 polo dash for £125 with clocks that he put in his A reg Mk2. It needed a beam to be welded but the dash and clocks fitted wonderfully and looked really nice. Maybe this helps?!!
