Hey guys,

My girlfriends had a 2005 VW Beetle for a couple of months, but when she came to drive it the other day the airbag warning light came on and didnt go off like it normally does. Does anyone have experience with beetles/golfs etc and know what the cause of the light might be?! Anything I can check or do I just need to get the fault code read/reset? Many thanks in advance for any help!

Since noones replied, I'd say get it checked just for peace of mind as you don't want to find out one or more of the airbags doesn't work in an accident.

Hi there, what happens on the VW's and many other cars is that if there is any sort of electrical interference, this causes the air bag light to come on. I was serivicing my Golf last weekend and had to take one of the fuses out (fuel pump), and this caused the air bag light to come on. Personally, I knew that i'd done something, so I just got my mate to read the fault code and erase it. However, if your light has come on for no apparent reason it might definitely be worth getting is checked. A simple fault code read should reveal what the problem is smile
