Has anybody managed to source a supplier of replacement exhaust boxes for the Audi Coupe 2.8 Quattro?

I have this car and need a new exhaust from the cats back. Audi tell me that the centre box (£500) is obsolete and the rear box is £482.00. For this price, I could be part-way to having a stainless one made!!

I am NOT wanting a sports/noisy system, but something along the lines of the original. I am the wrong side of 40 for too much noise on my road car!!!

Has anybody else come across this problem of poor parts availability and if so, what is the best reasonably priced solution.

Regards to all, Robin.

i had the very same car with the very same problem, one of the cats was going and the middle box was rattling. OEM system was coming in nearer £650 then. (3-4 years ago).

I ended up going for a full manufactured stainless steel system and i did NOT want it to be chav/ big/ loud and specified it to be such, i am with you on that. And the outcome was it wasnt, i little more audible but almost negligible. Lifetime warranty, with new sports cats it came in at £450 for the full system from manifold back.

Parts are hard at the moment, i have heard VAGparts one of the big UK suppliers may well be closing the doors, as the euro/£ rate is killing a lot of these businesses at the moment. I so hope its wrong but suspect it might not be.
