hi just put my car in for a service to find out that the brakes have faded quite badly, so the garage have put on some brand new brakes, now i did ask the guys at the garage whether there is a way to bed in the new brakes to help with the life, but they said no i could just use them like normal, but i have heard elsewhere that i gotta take it easy with the brakes and try and avoid hard usage of the brakes for about 150miles

now which one is correct, as i don't fancy paying out for new ones any time soon

There is a bedding in procedure but not sure what it is. When i do mine i drive gently for the firt 200 miles or so but was recently told there is something else you are meant to do.

For normal road driving, just careful gentle braking for the first 200-300 or so miles will suffice.

If you're bedding in pads for the track then you'd need a more aggressive strategy, but I assume you'll be after the first one.

The garage will say drive as normal but i would say gentle braking to start with as if you do heavy braking then you can glaze your new pads wich will cause brake squeel and sometimes harder braking
