1999 VW Golf won't unlock with remote or key.

Car has been fine although I can't ever remember unlocking the car with the key before. Now it won't respond to the alarm.

I have tried new batteries in the alarm fobs and still no response. The red lights show the alarm to be armed and at the minute I am locked out of my car.

Any ideas?

Is it a Mk 4? Does the key not unlock the door at all?

My Mk 4 pops central locking/alarm fuses occasionally but it still works on the key ok.

The operators handbook will tell you how to get it going without using the fob button. Sorry I can't be of more help at this stage.
