Audi a3 chipped??
Discussion
Hey all.
Just wondering if anyone out there has/heard of an Audi A3 1.9TDi that has been chipped or re-mapped..?
When i first got the car earlier this year i was quite pleased with the performance but now im wanting a little bit extra without having to buy a new car..!
So any information on how it performs with it done or if its not good for the car would be helpful..!
Cheers.

Well 1.9TDi means that its a 1.9 litre turbo diesel engine..
No ideas on 0-60s or torque but its not bad for my first car :P
1.9TDI's have been remapped since the late 90's. Very good engine for remapping, depending on what the output is to start, you'll end up somewhere between 137BHP and 190BHP ish.

Depends what A3 you have. If its the 150bhp model then you should have a FMIC and be able to push it to 180ish.
Not in area but this will give you an idea of what's available and how much; http://www.amdtechnik.com/products.bymodel.cfm?mod...

Amd are, I get alot of stuff done there. Depends how far you want to go... If you want a remap alone it will cost between 200 and £500. If you want 300+bhp or anywhere inbetween have a search for allards, and have a look at their toys.
Edit, I think star performance are up your way (highlands/Scotland at the least), very good if I've heard correctly.

GSE99 - do you know what TDI it is?
I'd imagine it will be either the 110bhp or the 130bhp (the 130 also comes as a quattro).
I'm not sure if it'll be if much help but i did a write up when i had my old a3 remapped a few years back, the main benefit was power delivery and the torque increase for motorway overtaking, I've put a link here:

p.s - Star performance seem to get very, very good reviews and Jim really knows his stuff.

Star performance in Fife do get a very good reputation for VAG cars. Not really anyone VAG up here i would impart my money too.
its not the power you need to worry about its the delivery of it and the extra torque across the rev range that makes it more drivable. And in FWD it is a nightmare to lay that down in lower gears, i would find a remap/chip that gives you a smoother delivery personally, Audi Driver magazine i believe had a write up on tuning the 130 1.9tdi recently. Economy will still be good and as always if you drive it with a light foot it should benefit you a lot better. i have a remapped 1.8T A6 and its about the same economy on short journeys, sub 5 miles but anything above that we get about 4 mpg better off. i have driven a remapped 130 very punchy in a bigger chassis, can only see ti being quicker in the A3 platform. but once again, grip and laying it down will be fun!
