Hi, just a quickie(as the actress said to the bishop)
If I replace the discs and pads myself on my 2001 Audi A6, will the brake pad warning light on the DIS computer automatically go out?

Surely I don't have to have the computer fault read at a specialist/dealer?

When a stop lamp bulb went a while back it beeped at me and a little warning light came on, I replaced the bulb and it went, so the principle must be the same?

Cheers

From memory when the pad wears down it reveals something metallic that makes a contact and the warning comes up. With the new pad fitted the contact is not made and the ligth should go out.

There should be no need to reset the warning after the refit.

Gren is correct. There is a little connecter/plug. Simply get a very small flathead screwdriverput it in the gap in the top and push forward and they should seperate. when you take the pads off you will see the two contacts which i assume short out when exposed which is what causes the light to come on. Put new pads on light goes off.

Also be aware you will in all likelihood need a number 7alan key and a number 20socket which are harder to get than you would think. Lastly dont forget the copper grease. good luck
