Excuse a visitor from teh Griff forum. My wife has an '03 Polo FSI, about 35k miles, and has just started to have a string of engine related faults - EGR valve, NoX sensor, Intake manifold sensor, Brake light switch (part of engine fault diagnosis we are told? Brake lights did work) and now fuel flow meter. Is this just bad luck, or is there an issue with early FSI engines?

Cheers chaps

Had a friend who owned an 2004 Audi A4 2.0FSI... nothing but problems.. As this was the first 2.0l engine with FSI... is was a nightmare..

Quite correct, the early FSI engines are known for being troublesome frown

Any mis-fires or dodgy running?

They're prone to coil pack failures and that can throw up a few different warning lights...

Cheers guys. Problems continue, but the VW dealer has started doing the fixes for free!! Reckon we will get it working and flog it.

Apparently in the trade FSI stands for Fairly Stupid Idea (well, that is the polite version)
