Nice to have a home with the Audi owners. Here goes with a VW post!

I'm thinking of replacing my tyres in about 3 months... They'll be due about then, my uprated suspension and brakes will have had a couple of months use, and winter will be facing us like... like a cold period lasting approximately four months.

I know that some brands are feircely supported by some people, but is there any way of knowing which premium tyre is best for the tubby but nippy (upgraded) mk3 Golf GTi? Of course any brand's top tyre is likely to be fine, but as ever we demanding people would prefer to spend less.

Do any GTi ownerws have some wisdom to share? Much appreciated,

Roach.

had several audis, and golfs, and I have to say the best tyres I ever bought were Good Year F1's.

same tread pattern aa the 1999 F1 car, wet weather tyres!! gripped like glue, but lasted 8000 miles...

Ta for the input. I had the situation forced somewhat due to a hefty puncture one night last week. Looked malicious but I can't be sure.

Went with Yoko 539's V-rated, the mobile fitters couldn't get Toyos quickly. The Yokohamas feel fine so far but they have hardly been tested yet. They'll just have done a couple of hundred miles by the time I get the suspension and brakes uprated. Mmm upgrades.

Thanks, Roach.
