3.2 litre TT
Is the new DSG gearbox a new benchmark for semi-autos?
Discussion
You're obviously in the minority then as most tend to think the car is pleasing on the eye. Too many people as the car is becoming a bit too common. (Then agan I do see more TVRs than TTs on my 50 miles to work and back every day)
Just over 6 seconds may not be fast compared to cars that people on this site own but it'll still leave 95% of the cars on the road for dead.

I don’t know who decided that the TT is a desirable car at Audi, it is just so ugly and even with all it’s tricks it is still slow. 0-60 in over 6 seconds is not really impressive.
Desirable = sellable. TTs sell very well in the UK whether we would buy one or not, 1,000s do. Audi are here to make money = sellable = derisable. Simple really
This gearbox is supposed to be something else so I reserve judgement on it until I've driven one myself.
I spend a lot of time on the TT forum (same name there too) and the vast majority of the people on there love their cars. There are moans like everywhere else but most are enthusiastic about their cars - by their very being on the forum
Most also realise what they own is not a sports car or a performance car but is a quick, good looking coupe.
What people are pretty universal in their dislike of though is Audi UK and the franchise network.

Yes they are common now, a lot have been sold, it has done well for Audi and they are using that money to finance the development of other exciting cars.
They are quick, I wouldnt say fast or slow but they are adequately quick.
For what it truly is, a design study, then its achieved its goals far and above what it set out, remember there was only going to be 1000 made. Its innovative, well built and well styled so as far as the car itself goes I think we can safely say without need for further discussion that its a success...

I agree on that side, have only heard bad about Audi UK, a girl friend went and bought a TT and had nothing but problems with it. After a long legal struggle with Audi UK she did manage to give it back and went for an Alfa instead. On the other side of the water here in Germany some owners do seem to think that it is a sports car, but are soon put in their place.

Sorry mate, but that is impressive especially when I drive an ten year old Audi 80 that does 0-60 in ten seconds. And yes it is very desirable as shown by the millions sold. Maybe you are lucky enough to drive a car that is faster than a TT, but spare a thought for the rest of us that hold the TT up as a very desirable and quick car before you completely slag it off!
It may not be a true sports car but it is desirable. I had considered chopping my Chimaera plus A8 for one to cut costs. 90% of the fun for a lot less money to run.
It is NOT a sports car though. This was highlighted when I parked my Chim next to one at Tesco. My roof line was level with the door tops of the TT. They look dinky but they ain't!
The gearbox however sounds like the absolute b*llocks, can't wait to hear one given some grief.
