Does anyone here have a 2003 model A4 1.8T - if so could you tell me if your gearbox feels very 'notchy' going into 2nd, especialy so before it's warmed up?

Can't figure out whether it's worth a visit to the dealer or if 'they all do that'

Thanks,
Minghis.

Well my wife's A3 1.8 T Sport feels very 'notchy' when not warm and going from 1->2 - it almost jumps out of 1st and then is tricky to get into 2nd.

It's under warrenty so we've got it 'on the list' for next time it's with the dealers - but would be very interested to hear what you find out...

Is it a 6 speed box?

Reason I ask is it seems to be an issue with TTs especially before they're warmed up. Mine can be a bit stiff but nothing too bad

Most six speed boxes feel notchy, Audi ones are always thus from the S2 onwards.

No, a 5 speed. Placed my order too soon to get the 2004 model 190bhp 6 speeder - (mines the 163bhp 2003 model with 5 speed) but there does seem to be a trend here, I think what I'll do is take it to the dealer, and ask to try another one (demo) as a comparison.

What really concerns me is that if it's this notchy in this weather, what's it gonna be like in the winter......
