Hi don't know if this should be posted here or in brakes section, but here goes.....

Has anyone fitted a 944 brake setup on a mk1 golf, if so what hubs were used uprights etc etc etc. Any help on this would be appriciated!!
Have seen it done on a mk1 track car at a meet once but wondered what parts were used.

Thanks Steve

I've no idea, not a conversion I've ever heard of I'm afraid.

I suppose anything can be done with ingenuity and elbow grease but the 280s work well and are a well documented swap; if those aren't enough then the Wilwood kit just needs a swap to the late, large MK2 master cylinder for really serious stoppers.

Do the 944s use Brembo calipers? People put Boxster calipers on MK2s because they're relatively cheap (but a custom fit job) alternatively the Seat Ibiza Cupra R stuff is 4x100 and bolts straight on.

I have no idea, I'm afraid. However I can tell you that the biggest brakes you can get under the standard 15" wheels of the Corrado VR6 are the callipers, carriers and 288mm discs off the Golf Mk 3.

And the 312mm off the Seat Leon Cupra R go on nicely if you're prepared to switch to 16" or 17" wheels.

I realise this isn't much help to you. paperbag

The MKI is such alight car it doesn't need huge brakes. 280mm dia. discs would provide all you need.

I agree - I have 280's on my turbo'd mk2 and they are superb. Its not worth the extra work just so you can have a 'porsche' logo on the calipers.
