Mk IV Golf interior door handle
Discussion
Hello everyone,
Recently bought a Mark IV five door V5 Golf and the driver's door trim handle (the one to pull the door shut as opposed to opening it) is a bit tatty so I got a new one today.
It looks like it should just pop right out, but upon trying to remove the incumbent, it feels like there's something else keeping it in place and when it budges a little, all the switches seem to come with it.
So, rather than risk yanking out all the window switches amongst others, does anyone know if there's a precise way of removing the old trim?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you all for the many replies and helpful tips.
I've fixed it now, and in the interests of helping out anyone else who has the same problem, here's how it's done.
Firstly, if you take hold of the door as you would do to close it, you can feel a curved bit of plastic. This is separate from the rest of the handle and should be prised off first as it connects the rest of the handle through an integral part of the door itself.
Once that's done, use a flat bladed screwdriver to prise up the rest of the handle. Be careful though, because the switches are screwed in to the handle and the whole thing is attached via a connector in the door itself. Safety first - disconnect the battery since you're dealing with electrics.
There are four clips to free. Two at the top, two at the bottom. You'll hear them release with a bit of pressure.
When you have undone all four clips, lever the handle out from the B pillar end as the electrics are connected at the end closest to the dashboard.
Unclip the wires from the handle by pushing in the release and pulling gently. You should now have the door handle containing all the switches in your hand and completely free from the door.
Crosshead screwdriver required now to remove the switches from the handle. There are three screws holding it in.
Attach the switches to the new handle and re-attach to the electrics in the door.
Fit the new handle in place, listening out for the four clips. Then attach the curved part of the handle, reconnect the battery and you're done.
Believe me, if I can do this, anyone can.
