1.8T engine temp sendor unit - where?
Discussion
OK, my A6 1.8T's temp gauge reads various figures when it should be 90deg constant once warm (usually reads cool). I think this is affecting my MPG by telling the ECU porkies which then adjusts the fuelling. I'm getting 2-3mpg less recently than I'm used to.
Sooo, looking at the engine I haven't got a clue where the sender unit is to check the wiring/screw in a replacement. (FFS, it's only a 1.8 4 pot - does it need that many wires and connectors?!?)
Car is a '97 and has done 94k miles so I'm guessing it's the sender unit. Since it's a cheap thing to check/replace I'm going to do that before bending over at an Audi/indie dealer.

Crikey, thanks for the reply. I sorted it over a year ago now :-)
The sender is on the back of the block right at the top. There's a big blue connector on it. I ordered a new one from Murrays in Hatfield and it took 10 mins to fit. The A6's engine is mounted longways, not transversely so the back to me might be the side on other VAG cars. Opposite end to the belts anyway.
