Hi

My Dad has an RS4, about 8 months old. When you raise the rear decklid you can hear water sloshing about inside the inner and outer skins. I pulled out one of the wiring harnes grommets and there was about 2 inches of water inside! Has anyone else had any experience of this on an RS4 or any other A4? I assume the water management system would be the same as the standard A4 and with the rear light harness running inside, cannot believe this would be a design feature? Besides I bet once the really hot weather kicks in it might start to smell a bit!

Any help greatly appreciated

Decklid? I thought this was gonna be an air cooled dubya thread hippy

I think you will find that all regular Audis are fitted with either a tailgate or a bootlid in the UK

Sorry I work for an American OEM, force of habit!

Took it into the dealers today, they replaced a BOOT seal, however the steering felt odd yesterday, really wanted to self centre and was quite heavy, wheel alignment was ok and Audi want to replace the steering rack.

Having left the auto panel industry a couple of years ago, it's only now I've got out of the habit of referring to wings and fenders thumbup

What's their logic with replacing the rack? I take it that they have completed a full geometry check on the front suspension before they start to swap racks and things?

Are the wheels in any way kerbed? If they are, and there is a fault with the rack, I'd put money on them trying to get out of doing it under warrenty ... thankfully it's a company car, but I'd tip off the company first that a bill may arrive.

My dads the CEO so I think he wont have any problems!

Wheel was slightly kerbed, but nothing major, there was no vibration in the steering it was just heavily self centering. Get the car back tomorrow, so will let you know what its like with the new rack
