Oct 05, DBP, with 11k on the clock…. What an amazing car. I'm really impressed! It's like the illegitimate child of a 911 and renault 5 gt turbo… with a bit of merc comfort thrown in! I've had 2 M3's and 3 911's (and a zillion other cars) and having spent the long weekend in the R32 my first impressions are these: The grip, traction and handling is v v good, but unlike a 911, where u can only use say 50% of the power (unless you're either a really good driver, or don't mind going farming when u inevitably career thru the hedge), the r32 u can use 85+%. Grip's better than the M3 (and 10X better in the wet) and the pull from low revs far better (and u don’t have to sod about pressing "sport" buttons etc). The noise it makes it terrific, but not too intrusive. The ride isn't too firm and the steering's meaty and direct, but not an effort to park. I'm really pleased with the size of the interior too, it seems to have tardis-like qualities! It's really well built and solid, and the driving position is perfect and very comfortable. I'm equally impressed with the DSG. I nearly didn’t try one, and was going for a manual. The M3 "SMG" version is rubbish compared with the DSG, and I don’t understand some of the reviews I'd read, that slated it around town. I've found it to be really well behaved and very relaxing to drive in traffic… and then brilliant in either "S" mode or manual when u cane it round the lanes. My only slight criticism would be the brakes, which lack progressiveness and some feel, and the MFD, which doesn't display the speed. It's probably the only car I'd ever consider tracking, as you don’t have to be a particularly good driver to get a lot out of it. I was looking for a smallish car, that was quick, handled well, could use as a station car and with 4 comfortable seats for the kids. I defiantely made the right choice!

Cheers
Nick.

Great car isn't it! I've just come from a new style Boxster as I needed something more suited for work!

Very good all-round car these!
