Golf TDi - ABS and/ or Trac Control Sensors

Hi Everyone,
Got a little problem with my MK4 Golf TDi Estate (Year 2000). Whilst engine was at normal temperature (been driving for 30 mins or so) the ABS sensor light appeared on the dash on Sunday along with the Traction Control light. Then the trac Cont light disappeared after a few minuts. Car felt fine, brakes were normal, but i made a quick call to the AA nonetheless. The nice man came out, disconnected my battery and waited for 3 minutes. Switched back on and drove it around a field, and vamous, the light went out! He tells me he thinks it's a dodgy sensor and not to worry.
Now, since then, both lights are on/ off intermittantly, it's completely random, not linked to length of time with engine running or anything.
Just wondered if anybody might have some opinions/ experiences before i get myself robbed by the stealer for a whole new system or such like!!?
