Please could me your views on reliability of a 1.8t which has been modified to run 325 bhp. This is a car that has been done using quality components and has a water/methanol injection system.

TIA

Want to enlighten us as to who has done the work?

Having strong reliable components in a modified engine is naturally essential, but having a reliable and experience engine building is also essential if reliability it to be assured.

You could fill my cupboards with gourmet ingredients, but you wouldn't get a nice meal out of it if you know what I mean.

With the right bits, the right builder, and treated with respect, there is no reason that the 1.8T should give much hassle at that kind of power.

It has a Jabbasport manifold and IHI turbo, it has emerald management system, uprated 440 injectors, aquamist and charge cooler, dump valve. This is the only info I have at the moment.

Should be ok. 330-350 lb ft is about as far as you'd want to go on standard internals however. Not sure why they felt the need to go for 3rd party management however - the Motronic can be made to handle a huge range of suituations if the tuner is so inclined.

Next question will the gearbox stand up to the extra power ?

If so what is the maximum power it can cope with ?

My TT gearbox was fine at 330bhp. I've not heard of gearbox failures in general. Obviously, abuse any gearbox and you're going to start eating sychros...
