I've got a Mk5 Golf GTi and am considering whether to chip it or not. I've never chipped a car before.

I've looked at Bluefin, Revo etc. and read a number of other topics on the forums about chipping.

I have a few questions and would appreciate any help or advice that anyone can offer.

1) If I were to chip the car, which product would you recommend I use?
2) Are the performance gains realistic? 25% more power for £500 seems an amazing deal to me.

and finally

3) Is it really worth bothering? Perhaps a silly question if the performance gains are achievable but I thought I would ask it anyway!

Anyone?

25% will prob refer to the diesel chip along with 40% more torque, expect 10%-15% for a petrol chip, unless its been designed for v-power....

Revo claim to take the 2.0 T Fsi to 250bhp o from 197bhp. It seems optimistic to me too!

The Mk5 gti is turbo so you will get more than that.

No need to pay £500 either. I can get you a pretty hefty discount at an Audi specialist in Oxfordshire.
Drop me a mail through my profile.

Most serious gains are always on turbo engines (petrol or diesel) and 25% is easily possible. VAG 1.8T 150bhp engines can be taken up to over 200bhp just by chipping (though you might need to spend an extra 75 notes on a new diverter valve).

Non turbo engines can benefit but never usually by as much - 10-15% seems the norm and will more than likely need you to run on Super unleaded afterwards.
