Hi guys
may have already been covered at some stage, but here we go i have an A4 Sline as my daily hack with 140 Derv lump in it, the car is by no means slow, but you always want that bit more don't you?
What is recommended in terms of chips etc?
i want something that can be removed/installed easily and give it a healthy dollop of grunt and torque.
Mate of mine has had a "TUNIT" system installed on his diesel 07 Lexus and it goes like sh@t off a stick, this retailed for about £400 and didn't require any dismantling of ECU so easily removed.
Has any one had any experience of these on the PD engines?
Cheers Ed

Fair enough, obviously no experience on the Audi/VW forums.
I'll stick with the Porsche forum friendlier bunch

Don't frequent these parts often so can't explain the quietness i'm afraid! tumbleweed

I've had experience of both methods of upgrade- both have their pros and cons so it's mostly down to personal preference. The plug in units are ideal if you're planning to move the car on soon, or it spends time at the stealer's as it can be easily removed.. But- some dealerships have a dim view of upgrades, some endorse it and some don't have a clue! The downside really is that some of the plug in units can be a bit tricky to get "tuned" into your car and need a bit of adjusting to get right.

The modern generation of "chips" doesn't require the ECU to be dismantled, a laptop is simply connected to the car's diagnostic port and the new programme downloaded..they don't even open the bonnet! I'm guessing that the reverse is also possible to revert back to standard but i've never had this done!!

Hope this helps, PM me if you want pointing in the right direction.

Hi Ed,

Which Lexus does your friend have as I am crrently looking at the 1S220D, and would probably tune it a little, failing that I'll go for the A4 (either 2.0 170, or 3.0 Diesel).

Jules.

Hi Mate
He has the IS220D Sport, which before he had the "tunit" system on was pretty poor performance wise, nice looking motor the lexus but quality not up to Audi standard for the money you pay. I'd go for the 170 diesel SLine and get it tuned, would be well sorted.
