Hi Guys, need your advice on a quattro high miler. A couple of dealers ive spoken to have said avoid the quattro and stick to 2wd. Reckon they could be dodgy. Looking to buy a as need a motorway muncher and these 130 tdi`s seem bullit-proof? Any words of wisdom appreciated, thanks!

Quattros feel nicer to drive, simply because the front wheels have less to do.

The 130tdi certainly has enough torque to easily spin the front wheels in a fwd, but if you're only after economy then get the fwd model which has more than enough grip in most circumstances and you will get a bit extra mpg.

I would only buy a quattro if you have a use for 4wd.. for motorway use you are only sacrificing performance and Mpg. If you doing miles have a go in an A6 130 tdi they are better again for comfort and size.. nice place to be to do a few miles in..

I used to have an A4 Avant TDI 130 (non-quattro). Great cars, very durable very very economical and not slow either. I would recommend even with high miles. However with this model I really can't see the point of Quattro, other than to provide more weight and more to go wrong. If you want a motorway 'beast of burden' dont bother with the Quattro for the extra money.
