Quick question, have been looking for a variety of cars to solve a problem I have which is basically needing a towbar plus fun in the same package for a couple of years, I am trying to resist the temptation of a subaru 5 door imprezza and have been looking at Mercedes Sl's.

I can't find a good SL I like for my budget that doesn't drop oil all over the place so back to the drawing board.

I really like the car in layer cake, and don't know what it was, I guess an RS$ or RS6, but it may sound stupid in estate version I cannot tell the difference!

I know it has a v8 due to the sound of it, and it looked very nice, what is the difference between an rs4/s4 and do they do an s6? Probably very silly questions to you audi chaps but I really need a hand.

Also what would I expect to pay for the cars in question, and are there any pitfalls?

What should I realistically expect to pay for one? Are there different engine options, did they do an S6, are they fairly nippy?

anything from about 21k for a shoddy one, beware, they cost a lot to maintain! 29k prob buys something decent.

Are there different engine options

Nope, all 4.2 V8 twin turbo

did they do an S6

yes, as above with more subtle styling & no turbos

are they fairly nippy?

S6 nippy
RS6 bonkers

hope that helps
