Looking at buying a new VW R32. There seems to be a lot of talk about upgrades and enhancing packs.

Can anone shed any light on the "6463 upgrade"? A recognised VW remap that deals with low speed engine hesitation?

I doubt many R32 drivers have experienced the problem then!

I believe the 6463 update is for MkIV R32s and not for new MkV ones.

Check out Tyresmoke.net - quite a few R32 owners on there (and 6463 info on the R32 forum)

I have an R32, so I can answer a few questions if you like.

Don't worry about 6463 - D1Mac is right. It's only for the Mk 4. The original software gave a loss of power at about 2800 rpm but it was corrected by VW under warranty and all software since is fine.

If you are buying a new R32, the only software upgrades you might need won't be from VW! hehe

You'd think that 250 bhp would be enough in a hatchback, wouldn't you....

Edit - Tyresmoke is by far the best place for R32 discussions. I am registered on several forums & TSN is the biz for VW/Audi chat. I enjoy the more diverse nature of PH too!

Yep, the 6463 update for the MKIV actually boosted the power up to the same as the current MKV R32 as well as curing the hesitation.

If you get the car re-mapped, most of the software now includes the changes VW made in the 6463 update.
