Hi

Need to replace the brake pads on a MK3 GTI 8V. Is this easy to do? Did read that Volkswagen and Audi rear calipers require that the piston be rotated while being pushed back into the caliper. Can this be done without buying special tools?

I'm no Mk3 expert but if they're similar to the last ones I did on the A4 you need to wind in the rear piston whilst pushing it in. I 'fashioned' a winding tool out of an old pair of pliers that got the dremel treatment to fit into the notches....

Well when we did it, it was no different to any other brakes I've done - a bit up levering and swearing and they go in easily.
