A4 Head unit problems
Discussion
Hi all,
I've got the head unit from my dad's A4 out of the car, and on a bench for inspection and repair (of cd playing problems). Got a 12V 5A DC power supply feeding it, it turns on, SAFE is displayed, I enter the code correctly and the display switches to display bands and station numbers only for a split second.
The unit then dies, and needs powering up again and the process repeating.
The pinout diagram shows a K BUS pin, does this need to be connected to the car? If not, what am I doing wrong??
Thanks for looking, and hopefully you can provide some help!!

I was told the K-bus is only used to allow the unit to determine whether it is still installed in the original car (by detecting other matching controllers on the same bus), if so it doesn't prompt for the code when the battery is disconnected & reconnected. This would make sense as I didn't have to re-enter my code on my Golf after disconnecting the battery while fitting my cruise control.
Is 5A enough? Maybe it's trying to power up the amplifier part and running out of juice?
