waveyI usually post over on the TVR forums, but I thought you guys might be able to help with a problem on the daily hack.

I was wondering if any of you folks have come across a problem with the cruise control on the Mk5 Golfs switching itself off.

On mine seems the light goes off, and the car drops out of cruise.

Pulling over, turning the engine and cruise off, then switching it back on seems to reset it OK, but not for long.

Not on the MKV specifically, but in general check your brake lights & switch are working properly (also clutch switch on manuals) as if the car thinks you are pressing either pedal then it will trip out the cruise.

Edited to say that as the light goes off then that's probably not your problem, but might be someone elses.

Thanks for the prompt reply Adrian. I think you're right my problem seems to be more of a systems glitch than a physical switch issue, I'll have to take it into the stealers and let them look at it. Luckily the car is only just 6 months old, so it should be fixed FOC.

By the way, is the Midget a RWA or SWA (I used to have a '71 Mk3, in fact I've still got the 1360 engine that was in it in the garage)

SWA. It's 'resting' at the moment, as more or less everything needs replacing!
