Anyone have any ideas? It's an 02 plate with just over 30K miles. It was hardly used by last owner and was stood so much that the brake discs perished.

The knock is getting more noticeable over pot-holes/bumps but only from O/S Front corner?

I was thinking that maybe it would be the shock absorber or some kind of rubber bush that's perished (maybe failing earlier in its' life due to lack of use?), but as you can probably tell - I'm somewhat mechanically challenged......confused

Anyone have any ideas?

Most likely ARB bush. The original design was pants (bonded rubber bush whichg separates from ARB completely) and it was redesigned with a welded metal "stop" to prevent the bush from going walkabouts. Repair means new ARB and bushes, we had ours done recently. Car drives MUCH better now!

Thanks for this. Was this a long or expensive job? Did you go to an OAC or a Specialist?

My local garage did it. Labour to trace the source of the rattle and repair was £73.50, parts £65, plus VAT.

It's a common and Audi 'known' A2 fault and the newer ARB metal collars are far more durable.

Not an expensive or long job to rectify.

Bang on guys!

It was the o/s ARB Bush. Had both sides replaced including labour for 75 GBP from a rather brilliant RAC mechanic.

Top banana!

He also managed to cure (mostly) the terrible tendency for the car to try and dive to 0 RPM when pulling away from junctions. Anyone else have this problem with the A2. It's my wifes and has been driving her nuts!

You need to drop the subframe to do it, therefore needing a track and camber. So you'll probably go through tyres like hot dinners.

Wife says that it does pull a little bit to the left....
So do we need to get it tracked and adjusted at the local tyre centre?

Yes but i wouldnt just go to a local tyre centre, if they do tracking? Try and find a decent specialist or take it to audi as cheapo ones just do front wheel alinement so your best off getting the lot done if your gonna do it.
