1990s Audi A4 2.8 V6 Quattro - known issues??

I'm in the process of looking for a new car and I'm intending on getting a 2.8 quattro A4 (97/98) and I need some advice.

What are the usual problems to look out for with these? When does the cambelt need changing? Is it a good choice or is the 2.6 a better car? What (if anything) should I look out for with the quattro?

Any help is appreciated, I need a kind of buying guide!

Don't know about the A4 specifically, but the engine is the same as my A8, so 80k for cambelt I'd have thought. You get a lot up for sale at 70k miles!

So what sort of price can I expect for a cambelt change??

I've probably got an invoice somewhere for that, no idea where though! From memory it was about £700, but I don't recall what else was changed in that service - maybe brake disks. It's a 3.6 hour job, cambelt kit is about £130.
