Anyone out there run a 4.2Q A6?
Discussion
I have had one for eight months, its a 2006 avant with the adaptive air suspention and is stunning in almost every respect(apart from one). No not fuel consumption, but steering that lacks feel.
Bought it brand new (twelve miles on the clock) but was registered for six months before purchase.
List 52.5k with options, I paid 35k. There is an identicle one at wayside Audi with 7k on the clock for £32995, so hopefully havn't blown to much in depretiation.
Have seen early saloons (2004) with some nice extras hitting the mid to low twenties.
Gave a lift to a friend with a new shape five series (with the run flats) and he was gobsmaked at the smooth ride! That is what sold it to me.

If it's the older shape car, then the previous comment is correct - most were Audi owned demos or dealer cars.
Very rare model.
Usually specc'd to the max, and usually a NIGHTMARE on fixing faults when high miles.
Great car, not the quickest as the 260bhp 4.2 wasn't that fast for a big car, but quality.
Just go into it knowing you will spend a LOT on faults

Thats very interesting as it's essentially why I'm asking. On the brink of buying a 148k 99(V). I had heard they were pretty reliable even with big miles. I had a horrible time with a BMW 740 at about 110k it cost me about £4k in one year to fix. btw I thought it was 300bhp?
