Time to replace all 4 tyres on my 2003 V8 S4. Currently have Continental Sport Contact 2's on the rear and Dunlop SP Sport 9000's on the front (nothing to do with me - they were on the car when I bought it!). Anyone know what's standard fitment, or have any recommendations for something better please? Car is just used for spirited road use - no track days.

Also, I've noticed quite a lot of tyre noise at around 70mph on certain surfaces. Is this to be expected, or could it be something to do with the choice of tyres?

Cheers

I've got Avon ZZ3's all round. Personally I think there a little harder (therefore better wearing) than the standard fit contis. Seem not to understeer noticably more (after all the general behaviour is akin to a barge).

I've just bought on of these too...

Currently Dunlops all around...

They have plenty life in them, but any comments about a comparison with P-Zeros or Contis would be gratefully accepted!

Having 4 x Michelin Pilot Sport 2's fitted today by Audi .... in order to pass MOT.

These seem to be a popular choice of tyre and I assume they are now Audi's recommended choice.

All I really hope for is that they're quieter than the Contis.

I'm probably going to get Goodyear F1's, after reading this article:

www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evolongtermtests/55795/audi_s4_avant.html

and having them recommended by a couple of people on another forum.

"The first set of tyres, ContiSports, were replaced after 14,000 miles, which as most of the miles were on the motorway didn't seem so good. The replacement Uniroyal Rainsport 1s weren't as eager to play as the Contis and proved even worse for wear, lasting just 8000 miles. Goodyear Eagle F1s were next on and totally transformed the car. The Eagles were the best tyres we fitted to the S4 - they made it feel much more planted and they also wore much better than the others."

Much cheaper than the Contis too.
