A3 Tdi ESP light

My ESP light which also trips on ABS faults keeps coming on intermitantly.

If I stop, turn off the engine and restart then it stays off.

Anyone has this?

Is it a known problem which I can fix myself?

Happens now and again on my allroad. Turn off and start again and all is OK. My own theory is it is prone to happen if you turn on the ignition too quickly

I think the car may be turning into Christine because the alarm just went off and all 4 windows were 1/4 way down. They were all closed when I left it!

Waits for car to burst into flames.

If the esp light is staying on and you cant switch it off the car has a fault,turning the ignition switch off and on again will turn off the light but you need to find out why its coming on in the first place,find a local specalist who has vag-com and get it checked,we have the progran but are on the south coast if you are local ish then let us know!

Light comes on intermitantly and it's more of a nuisance than a major concern.

I'm happy that I could cope with a sideways detour without ABS or traction control having driven TVRs for many years.

In your experience is it likely to be a sensor / ecu fault or a genuine problem with part of the suspension etc.?
