I've just bought a 2005 A8 3.0 Tdi which is as lovely as I expected with one exception...

The sat nav dvd is the original 2005 one which is loaded with errors as I've found in 24 hours of ownership confused Basically, roads have changed and it even struggled to find my local Audi dealership as it wasn't in the database.

I enquired about an updated disk and they're £250 eek

Does anyone know whether they're available elsewhere for less or is being ripped off by the manufacturer the only option here?

Thanks,
Dom.

You should be able to qualify for the TMC upgrade programme. You'll get a free set of two 2007 disks with TMC enabled. Give Audi customer services a call to confirm if you qualify or not. I got a free set of 2007 disks for my 04 Allroad. Just had to pay the dealer £100 for the firmware upgrade.

Hi.

There isn't a free upgrade programme.

There was a programme to give owners a reduced cost to upgrade to a new disc and TMC on new model Audi A6 with DVD Navigation, but the customer contribution was still £100 ish for the disc (in itself a good reduction) and then 2/3rds of an hour labout for a technician to programme the TMC update.

We were charging around £180 for this complete.

Ask your local dealer, as he may do you a deal on the labour, but the disc to my knowledge will cost you the full amount.
