Stutter problem on 56 plate tdi 140 golf!
Discussion
Hi there,
We have a 56 plate golf Tdi 140 sport which we bought new so we know where it has been.
The problem is when your cruising at motorway speeds or traveling at around 40 mph you just feel an occasionel stutter in the power delivery, the power just dissapears for a split second?
Anyone had these problems? It's been in main dealers 3 times but it's not showing any error codes so they can't fix it!
Their advice was to let it develop until it breaks down then they can fix it!
So our new golf is 5 months old and still has a fault!
Any ideas?

Could well be turbo-lag.
And you will probably get told "they all do that, sir"
I know it's not VAG, but I get exactly the same thing in a 55 plate Mazda-6 2ltr diesel. It's not turbo lag. You can be steady cruising at 70'ish on a flat road and the power momentarily goes and then comes back. No fault codes have been found. Latest ECU map from the manufacturer hasn't cured it either. The engine is otherwise 100%. Company car so uses main brand fuels.
Out of interest, does your Golf have a DPF?

Surely on a '56 plate car that is simply going to be a dealer warranty issue?
That's the problem, it has spent 3 separate days in the main dealer with no fix as they can't find a fault code and they can't make it perform the problem so they can't fix it!
Thought i'd ask on here if anyone else has had the problem or maybe had it resolved.
Neighbour of mine had a software download on his 2.0tdi Passat as there was a article in Auto Express about the problem which is similar to mine....the dealer said the engines were completely different and the was no downloads.....how different can theses 2.0 tdi 140's be?
