R8 V8, V10 too slow?, Get a RS8!

Thats right, V8 boys worried about the V10, forget that. Just heard that Audi are considering an RS8 with twin turbos and 600 plus bhp.
Whats next, an RSR8 with the V16 Veryon lump, then an SRSR with the turbos added.
Why not go the other way and have just an 8, with a 2.0 Tdi engine, the Greenies would love it!

It will be interesting to see how many R8 variants appear for sure
well they are rumoured to be sticking a pair of turbos on the RS6 Avant with the 5.2V10 engine so I presume making it fir in the R8 wont be a problem
..seeing as the R8 is quite a heavy beast, it will need 600bhp+ to be the fastest (straight line) car in the range ...they surely cant release the new RS6 this year with 550-600bhp and it out-drags their halo sportscar !

exactly - it all gets a bit tricky when all the top end cars in the range have a 5.2 V10 and turbos
the new RS6 will be heavy though, judging by the S6 its just under 2 tons with that 5.2 in there..the old one was 1850ish..so the R8 will be about 500Kg lighter I reckon which should sort that out
...an R8RS would be nice though - strip all the crap out of it and get it down to 1350Kg ish..that would liven it up a bit and widen the gap from the RS4 etc

From what i was told, it was rumours from heigher up as to the possibility of the car, so no power outputs were discussed, but seeing as the Gallardo has just had another power hike recently with the anouncement of a more powerfull lightweight 1330 kg car with over 520 bhp, a twin turbo version should easily be around the 600bhp mark.
Speculators out there, (and I am sure there are many on R8's already) should know I was strongly advised to leave a £1,500 holding deposit for this car!

Have to say one of the friendly chaps at the Houx Annex Roundabout last Le-Mans did hint there was going to be an RS8! I was moaning at him that Audi used to always go one better than its rivels but that now the RS4 was beaten by the M3 CSL and the M5 was faster than the S8! He said yah but not 'RS8' then grinned. This made me happy again.
