Sad, sad, day.
Yesterday my beloved S3 broke. The gearbox literally disintegrated and left a chunk of metal on the road the size of my fist.
The car in all other respects is immaculate with perfect bodywork, FSH and unblemished interior. Quite a few extras also.
I have had quotes of almost £6k and £4.7 for repair (main dealer and indy) and also an offer of £4.5 from a breaker.
My question to you experts out there is:
Is £4.5 for it way too low?
(It is a 99 with 74 on the clock)
Cheers,
Daniel

Cheers Griff,
Apparently (!), Audi only used this model of gearbox for 6 months and then, only in the S3's, so chances of finding one might be slim. Also, was planning to sell it in the summer with the arrival of junior (apparently something about fitting prams in the boot or something!!) and getting something with a bigger boot.
I have to say, I am quite keen on taking the money and running just for convenience, but wow! - what a way to ruin your weekend!!
