I will be getting one for a couple of weeks, mainly to do long distance trips, wondered if anyone had used one?

No, I gave up on them after they had my RS4 for a week to do a 2 day job & when I asked when I would get it back they told me that they hadnt looked at it & would give me a call "sometime next week"

its far far worse than that

Driven one a couple of times, what a great car. T666AKY bought a new one last year, 63 K seems a bit high though.

think its standard length, not sure how to check.

Quite weird, doesnt feel fast but nail it off the lights in sport mode, no real dram but you look down and you are going a lot quicker than you'd think.

i'd imagine lands end to john o groats would pass by without any fuss.

I've got a 4.0 TDI, and yes it is awesome - the 4.2 should be even better!!
Long journeys and it is in its element - e.g. last summer I left Florence, Italy @ 07.00 and made the 21.45 Chunnel with an hour stop for lunch. 1400kms - 875 miles and close enough to speed limits nearly all of the time.
Good luck and enjoy.
