I just happened to check the computer average fuel consumption figure against the actual fill-up amount and mileage.

For a journey of 200 miles the computers average fuel consumption was 31.5mpg. The actual fule fillup mileage was 28.7mpg.

Has anyone seen this sort of difference before or any comments on the computer numbers?

10% over read is not uncommon - my Audi often over reads to a similar amount.

The cynic in me thinks VAG always sets these on the high side of acceptable tolerance levels.

don't trust the dis! VAG cars generally over estimate by up to 10%! Work it out manually with good old fashioned pen and paper
