Just looked at a 130 GT TDI 60K miles.

On cold tick-over the engine seems to be quite rattley and you can feel the movement of the engine in the interior.

Once warm it seems fine is this normal?

Oh and also there is a light on the dash which im not sure what it is, In the rev counter there is a little amber lit up symbol which looks like the rev counter pointing towards 2000 rpm (eg rev counter light within the rev counter). What is this light?

P.S its £7100, 51 plate, silver, 60K miles, 2 owners, with 12 month warranty, cam-belt changed. Good price or not?

I just bought a 2002 GT TDI 150 which doesn't seem too loud at tickover when cold. I paid £8,000 for it with 60k miles, black heated leather. It sounds like the light you refer to is the cruise control light which is controlled by the left hand indicator, flick the switch and it should go off.

if its rattling on idle , try dipping the clutch , If it goes quieter theres a good chance its the dual mass flywheel.. Ive seen quite a few of them with this problem..

Thanks i never tried dipping the clutch. The engine looks to me to move around on its mounts quite a bit and has a funny sound which i can only describe as a train running on tracks, took about 3-4 mins before it got warm and settled into the normal diesel rumble and no funny noise.

yes thats sounds like flywheel...normaly sounds worse when you knock it off just as the engine stops..
