54 plate A6 Avant, Manual, standard car

Bit sad, but I work this out every time I fill up... paperbag

Ave 45.1mpg over 33,000 miles

best tank = 53.4mpg (car full of wife kids, presents etc on xmas trip up north and back. Heavy but flowing motorway traffic held us at about 50mph for most of the round trip)

worst tank = 38mpg (in-a-hurry driving style mixed with stop/start town traffic)

Golf TDI 130. 90% M-way commute in not-in-a-hurry-cruise-set-to-65-mode gives 53 to 60mpg on trip computer, which can be a little optimistic sometimes. Avg mpg/tank shows as 55/56 ish, push on driving on A-roads drops it to 48/49. I don't use the brakes much either.

A6 avant 130 tdi 2002 manual 5 speed,, remapped ecu.. Did 320 miles yesterday lods of speed checks so sat at a steady 78mph, managed 48mpg.. A Customer I sold an A6 avant to same car 130 tdi standard on a "drive like your granny week " managed 730 miles on a tank ... my best is 620 miles but I struggle to drive like a granny :-(

do the same run in a 130 A4 tdi get mid 50s

swmbos 2.0 tdi A3 does closer to 60..

In an Audi the most economical out of the lot is the older 110 bhp.

Can vouch for this ... Most Motorway runs average 55mpg, around town, 45 ish if not in a hurry and not using the turbo too much... have seen 63mpg at a constant 60 - 65 mph

for comparison, my Audi A4 Avant 170bhp TDi -- ( all from the trip computer)

40 / 42 mpg on a motorway run at around 80mph

Wife driving country roads - 37mpg

Me driving same roads - 35mpg

After a good thrash home last night on country roads - 27mpg

If I really made an effort on the motorway runs I could probo get upto mid 40's

I'm guessing the A6's fair worse because they are bigger and heavy than all the others.

My 41-42 mpg translates to about 500-520 per tank. No too bad considering I do have a heavy right foot.

Cheers All.
