Hi,

My parkers price guide says that possible problems on this A4 model include front suspension problems on high mileage cars and problems with the catalyst. Can anyone tell me how often these occur and the likely cost of putting them right?

Also, is there any easy way of telling that a car has these problems when i go and have a look at it? I am looking for a 110Tdi SE Avant at the moment.

Thanks for your help.

I can't help you i'm afraid but if you do a search for Audi forums on google they may be able to give you some qualified advice. they're not as friendly on the whole mind you.

i'm a tekky for audi and have never had to replace a cat on that model. However front suspension problems are most likely to be straights arms on A4's - not too expensive if they do go wrong.
Dont listen to information given like that anyway. Its a car, anything could go wrong and usually there always wrong anyway. For example, i was watching autotrader on Tuesday and he was telling this man to be careful as the model he was looking at had huge problems with airmass meters. The car was an 06 Cab 2.0t. No problems atall with them yet.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. I suppose you are tight, anything 'could' go wrong. From what i have heard this model of Audi is pretty reliable and that is one reason they keep their value. I was just concerned if there is a common problem with, say, having to replace the front suspension at about 130k miles costing £1000 or something like that.

Thanks again.
