Hi,

My car just failed it's MOT for emissions (just what I needed today), just wondering if anyones got any ideas as to cause, it was showing very high carbon monoxide and slightly low lambda, I'm guessing it's either something like the lambda sensor or CAT but anyone got any ideas, or experiences?

Cheers,

Ben.

hi angrys3owner

have you tried any fuel injection cleaner it is usually about a tenner for some good stuff and it might just get through the emissions but will need a good run to clean every thing

if not its probably the lamda sensor

Hello there

ok i would recommend that u get the car vag-commed as this should show up any sensor problems, it could be a number of reasons that it failed the emmisions test but i would think that its down to the lamda sensors the rear one will not show up as a fault on vag-com so this has to be manually checked (it will be white if its knacked)
drop me a mail if you would like any more info.

thanks

Thanks for the replies chaps and thanks for the help Vixpy!

AmD were kind enough to check for any faults on saturday, turned out it was the Lambda sensor, believe my car only has one pre cat senssor as it's the APY engine. Luckily my local Audi garage had one in stock for a reduced price yikes, only £90.66

Fitting the sensor wasn't even that much of an arse, job done, just need to get it re-tested, which should hopefully be tomorrow (I was going to wait until I was 100% before posting on here).

Cheers All beer
