Hopefully fairly simple, how many miles have you typically got left on a set of pads (that only really see motorway use so not a hard life) when the check pads warning pings on the dash?

I know there will be a margin built in so the car isnt immediately unsafe but not sure I want to push using them to the next service which is currently 1800 miles away.

Brakes isnt something you mess around when it comes to sorting but I'd really rather not loose my car for a day this week then loose it again for a day in 2 weeks time rolleyes

Take your wheel off and have a look.
It's the only way you can be certain.
Pad sensors are usually in one side and the other may have worn more/ less.

I got almost 14,000 miles, so you should be ok with 1800 miles

Always good to check, not the sort of thing you want to fail on you!

A few months back I had this warning pop up and it turned out to be the brake pad wire. I disconnected the connector and sprayed with WD40, the problem stopped (my brake pads had loads of life left in them).

when the light goes ping there's usually a good couple of thousand miles worth of meat left on the pad
